Ronaldo - I'll be back

Cristiano Ronaldo admits hitting the heights of last season is a tough ask but has vowed to return to his best form in the future.

A sensational 2007/08 campaign, in which he scored 42 goals, is expected to be rewarded with the Fifa World Player of the Year award on Monday.

Ankle surgery over the summer delayed Ronaldo's start to the current season and when coupled with a public courting of Real Madrid, led to accusations he has had his head turned.

His form has rarely matched his immaculate displays of last term but a nine-goal return has kept his manager Sir Alex Ferguson happy enough.

Ronaldo, though, insists that it is inevitable a drop would follow considering the peaks he reached; claiming no player is capable of hitting such heights season after season.
